On the one hand warmly caressed by the languorous Indian Ocean and on the other coldly flanked by the frigid
Atlantic, the Western Cape is by nature a study in contrasts. A veritable cauldron of cultures, The Mother City
draws her heritage from numerous ingredients, including dashes of the Indonesian, Dutch, French, British, German,
local Khoisan and Bantu tribes’ cultures.

Hear the call of the wild here, from the high-pitched drone of the Anopheles mosquito to the guttural rumblings of
the bull elephant. The countryside is dramatic, with vast sculpted crags tumbling down to the verdant lowveld at God’s
window, giggling rivulets twisting through Bourkes Luck and reckless cascades of water at Mac Mac, Horseshoe and Forest
falls.

particularly at the Sterkfontein caves and even more so at Taung. This site yielded a hominid skull of such importance that it
pushed forward documented occupation of Africa by 1 million years. Golfing and other exciting activities are in no short supply -
